1992 Toyota pick-up, grinds when shifting-do I need a clutch?.
Hi Steve,
I have a 1992 Toyota pick-up and I am having a hard time shifting gears all the time and it will grind going into reverse. If I pump the clutch pedal before I shift it will not grind as much? Do I have a hydraulic problem or do I need to replace the clutch assembly? Can you please help me??
Thanks,
Peter

Hi Peter,
It sounds like you defiantly have a clutch problem with this one.
The fact that you have to pump the clutch pedal to get it to work makes
me think its a problem in the hydraulic system of the clutch. Either a clutch
master cylinder or slave cylinder.
The mileage on the truck does concern me though, so I think to fix this
right you are going to need to replace the clutch assembly as well as the
hydraulic parts of the system.
I hope this is a help to you .
Thank you for your car repair question.
