1999 Honda Accord-Gas pedal sticks when cold.
Hi Steve,
I have a 1999 accord .. If I let the car sit over night the gas pedal seem to be real hard to press down.. almost like something locking up!
So, I checked the cables and oiled everything connected to the cables.. Is this a common problem? What type part do I need to fix this problem?
Thanks,
Nelson
Hi Nelson,
I did some research on this for you and I have found something for you to
check. Honda has a technical service bulletin for this problem.
The throttle plate is sticking only when it is cold causing the pedal to
be hard to depress. To correct this condition you need to clean the throttle
plate and bore. To clean the throttle you need to remove the air intake
and simply spray the throttle with a carburetor cleaner and wipe clean with
a rag or small brush.
This service bulletin specifically states that this condition only occurs
after the car sits overnight!! I really think that this is your problem
so take a good look at it!!!
I hope this is the information you are looking for, please ask if you have
any more questions!
Thanks,
