Egr code on a 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis
Hi Steve,
I have a 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis and My check engine light came on with a code 332, insufficiant E.G.R. flow. In three trips to the dealer they have replaced the P.F.E. sensor, vacuum relay and the EGR valve.
The check engine light still comes on and they are telling me that it is in the computer? I did a little research on-line and found out that the passages under the throttle body might be plugged? I checked these passages and they were plugged,so I cleaned them out and reassembled the EGR valve.
The check engine light is still on ! Can you help?
Thanks,
Neil
Hi Neil,
I think you are on the right track with the carbon issue on this one. Carbon
build up is the most common source of egr insufficient flow concerns.
I think it is possible that maybe you did not get all of the carbon out
of all the places that it needs to be removed.
There is a service bulletin issued from ford/Lincoln that shows you exactly
where to clean and remove the carbon.
You can get this bulletin from my online repair manual - AllData.diy. This
manual will give you step-by-step instructions and illustrations to clean
your egr system.
If ALL of the passages are clean and free of carbon then YES you could have
a problem in the computer causing the problem, but double check the carbon
issue first.
Thank you for the question on your egr valve and check engine light, if
you have any more questions please let me know.
