1992 Buick Park Avenue- Low air flow from the A/C vents.
Hi Steve,My mechanic is having trouble diagnosing my problem. The air and heat works but has a low volume of air from the vents. The actuators for the doors are working as well as the blower.
I have a 1991 Buick and it puts out 5 times the volume of air. What could be the problem?
Thanks,
Charles
Hi Charles,
The most common problem with a lack of volume from the a/c is that the evaporator
core is blocked with debris.
The evaporator core is like a small radiator behind your dash. The blower
pushes the air across the evaporator to cool it before it enters the passenger
compartment. Read more( A/C systems explained )
This will explain it to you in a little more detail.
If all the doors and actuators are working properly then you have no choice
but to access the evaporator core to inspect it. I have seen this many, many
times before and I am sure this is where you will find the problem.
The air passages (or fins) are very small in the evaporator core so it
does not take much to plug it up. Most of the time you will find that the
evaporator has a small leak and the oil and freon that leaks onto the evaporator
core will collect dirt, hair and any other small debris that passes through
it.
If you have any more questions on this or any other problems please let
me know.
