My A/C compressor is bad, did my mechanic damage it during repair?
Hi Steve,
I brought my car in because of a noise and because the service engine
light came on. It turned out the service engine light was nothing big.
As for the noise we heard with the A/C , it was the pulley. They took the
pulley off and when they put the new one on they messed up the compressor.
The shop owner told us this. My husband tried to talk to the owner but he
did not see it as his fault.
Unfortunately, we had to pay for their mistake. We used this shop for all
of our cars and were pleased with the work. Just sad we had to pay for their
error.
Thanks for trying to help me. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my question.
Thanks,
Mary

Hi Mary,
Thank you for the explanation of the situation. I do understand where
you are coming from and why you are upset.
I can say that this is a difficult situation for both the repair shop and
the customer.
Usually when the pulley on the A/C compressor goes bad most repair shops
and mechanics replace the complete compressor because of this very situation.
I think this repair shop was trying to save you some money and just replace
the bad pulley but unfortunately it does not always work out for the best
and things just happen when trying to make a repair like this.
It sounds like you have had good luck with this repair shop and that is
a good thing ! Good repair shops are hard to find sometimes, so I think
you should stick with them !
If you ever have any more questions about any of your car repairs please
feel free to ask me and I will help any way I can.
Steve
